What is Health Tourism and Why should You consider it!

What is the definition of Medical Tourism – Wellness Tourism -Health Tourism?

… and what is the reason for people to Travel for Health”?

What role can WTG  fulfill as Your “Health Tourism Guide?

We will guide you to the solution that will work best for You. Whether you are in need of preventive or promotional health, cosmetic or curative health, rehabilitational or alternative health, surgical or supportive health, we are here to guide you through it all the way!

First, let’s have a closer look at what the three definitions stand for:

1: Medical Tourism/Travel – is focussed on treatments for diagnosted diseases or conditions.

2: Wellness Tourism/Travel – is focussed on prevention and promotion of health & well-being.

3: Health Tourism/Travel – is focussing on both travel for medical treatments and the use of healthcare services! This covers a much wider field of health orientated tourism/travel, ranging from preventive health, health conductive treatmentsnto rehabilitational and curative forms of travel.

Now that we’ve discussed the definitions and variations in Travel for Health, let’s see what models we have to choose from:

1)  Traditional Medicine – also indicated as CAM ( Complimentary -Alternative Medicine) in some countries, is the sum total of the knowledge, skills, and practices based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illness.

2)  Functional Medicine  – this is a different approach, with methodology and tools that are specifically designed to prevent and treat chronic diseases.

3) Contemporary Medicine – this applies biomedical sciences, biomedical research, genetics, and medical technology to diagnose, treat, and prevent injury and disease, typically through pharmaceuticals or surgery, but also through therapies as diverse as psychotherapy, external splints and traction, medical devices, biologics, and ionizing radiation, amongst others.[5]
